Mercury Levels in Fish
Like most of the ponds and lakes in Oklahoma, KFFL has been found to have mercury contamination in the fish population. In a survey taken by the EPA, four large mouth bass were sampled from a KFFL pond. These animals were shown to have very high mercury levels as shown below.

Normally, large fish have high mercury contents, as shown by this graph. However, the KFFL fish were smaller and have contents of fish normally twice their size. The reason for this is unknown at this time as is the precise source of the mercury in KFFL ponds. For further information on this issue, please see the following web site.
